I’m a cyber security engineer/chief information security officer/spy/… in training at least. Being a uni student and studying cyber security is what I enjoy. Cyber security an emerging field for which I gave up a scholarship for marine and offshore engineering (honours) a heartbreaking move for my parents and a game-changing move for me.  What is cyber security? I was aghast when some of my friends raised questions like “mate what is it?”. Even it was hard for me to answer since I was new in this field. I simply put forward a term ” HACKING ” but ethically licence to hack . Those who had a little Idea about it raise their eyebrows by saying ” Wow Cyber security “ could you help me hacking in to my ex friends Facebook or Google account. All they wanted me was to be like Matrix but I personally don’t want the SWAT team breaking my windows and arresting me .

To be honest I am a person who kept on changing ambitions from an Aerospace engineer to a Doctor(hated chemistry but loved physics) then a Naval warfare officer. I had no clarity as to which way to go but when I tumbled across cyber security by accident and lo I am loving it but I totally have no idea since this field is so huge you have the cryptographers, encryption specialists, forensics, ethical hacking, social engineering, virus & malware specialists a never-ending list.

When I started this journey, I had no idea what it might be. I am amazed that there is a quiet revolution in progress. On the other hand lack of mentors was like driving a car with no map or GPS handy in a godforsaken land. thus I myself self-motivate since I have been into many forums and kept guessing where should I start from since its so huge. Now I have the world map of cyber security in my head which I am going to explore like Ibn Battuta the famous traveller and hope I get famous like him but in the journey of cyber security.
