With the advent of computers, computerization and the increasing dependence of commerce on internet, Cybersecurity is constantly evolving as based on the cyber threats or issues that it is facing every day. Some of them as we know are spam, phishing and other major compromises to business enterprises causing major security breaches. Eg : WannaCry Ransomware, Stuxnet etc. This has brought a special workforce who are technically qualified, well- informed and up to date to combat cybercrimes or cyber issues. In a recent survey conducted by Spiceworks, it is estimated that by the year 2021, there will be 3.5 million positions in the cybersecurity field worldwide.
Therefore, the professionals in cybersecurity need to find a solution to patch up those empty positions, they could do this by either working for longer hours and harder or implement a new avenue in this field. It is shown in a survey conducted by Spiceworks that the information technology employees on average worked for 52 hours a week. By this, we can understand those information security professionals would find it harder to respond to any security issues in an efficient and effective manner.
Therefore, many firms have moved to AI (Artificial Intelligence) in cybersecurity. Yes, you have read it right – AI in cybersecurity. If you are imagining a humanoid (A robot who looks like a human) who is busy hacking all the information, well, you could be right. This could happen in the near future but as of now, AI is used to prevent cybersecurity attacks.
In the following pages, I am going to take you for an adventure of Artificial intelligence and their role played in Cybersecurity.
